Walter Prenzler

Airport and Aviation Strategist

Walter Prenzler, born in 1952, is an aviation professional with more than 35 years’ experience in international and multicultural aviation businesses. He was former regional director for Lufthansa Dubai and held senior management positions in Germany, MEA and Asia for aviation consulting companies as well as for aviation IT solution providers.

Walter Prenzler, born in 1952, is a MBA graduate from Frankfurt University, and he became an aviation professional with more than 35 years’ experience in international and multicultural aviation businesses holding senior management positions in Germany, MEA and Asia in legacy/network carriers, low cost carrier, VVIP and charter airlines, for aviation consulting companies as well as for aviation IT solution providers.

Walter started his career as Manager Route Planning for Lufthansa German Airlines in 1980, and became VP Network Planning for Lufthansa’s entire passenger fleet in 1993. Further steps in his career included area management of the MEA/Pakistan region for Lufthansa as Regional Director located in Dubai, followed by an assignment as EVP Commercial and Member of the Board in charge for operational management, debt restructuring, and turnaround of the ailing Indonesian flag carrier Garuda Indonesia.

His long career also included positions such as CEO of Saudi Arabia’s first low cost carrier “NASAIR” (now called ‘flynas”) and ”Al Khayala” (VVIP airline) based in Riyadh as well as interim CEO & CCO of airBaltic, the national carrier of Latvia.

Walter was also Managing Consultant and VP Sales Asia for Lufthansa Consulting GmbH based in Jakarta, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur responsible for acquisition, consultancy and management of high profile aviation projects in MEA and Asia. Furthermore, he was SVP Commercial XLAirways Germany for aircraft charter, ad-hoc flights, ACMI and dry lease, and he worked for two aviation IT solution providers (Airpas Gmbh and FuelPlus GmbH), both companies specialized in airline fuel management, finance solutions and IT systems.

Based on his long career in multinational companies Walter has an extensive know how and expertise in particular in international airline restructuring and transformation, crisis management, and in leadership of multicultural enterprises and project teams.

Currently he works as “Managing Partner” for “ad rem Unternehmensberatung GmbH”, a German advisory company focused on business process management, re-engineering and outsourcing opportunities for the aviation- and other industries.
